    Question Extra power options?

I'm trying to get some extra power in my car to give me the freedom to let my PC system run for a short while when the car is off. So far, I can only find two options; a second battery or a UPS.
Unfortunatly, I don't think I have a place to mount a second battery (95 Camero) and a UPS is very ineffecient. Any ideas?

You don't need any extra power for "a short while". Check out the thread on power consumption here, people are reporting 2.5 Amps on average. At that rate, you've got at least a few hours before you drain your battery.

If you just want something to shut off power automatically after some delay, do a search here on "shutdown controller" or "auto-off" or "delay circuit". Or just use my circuit.

I have a Honda Civic w/ stock battery and alternator, my system draws 6 amps.

I have never run my battery down.

    I would recomend http://www.dschmidt.com/autooff.html

I do use a Dschmit auto-off board right now to shut down my PC when my car stops, but that's damned annoying when all I need to do is get gass or something.

I have tried running the PC off the battery for a little extra time, and when I try to start the car back up, my inverter give me a low battery alarm and needs a little time before it will give power to my PC.

I worried about that when i had an inverter.. with the Arise DC/DC PSU, it has a varable input of 8 - 16 volts.. So the drop in voltage is not a big deal to my box unless you have to crank the engine for a while.

I have not gotten my dschmitt box yet, (on order though) when I get it, i plan to add a capacitor w/ diode onto the accessory line, this will allow me to change the wait time to (my goal) 12 minutes or so.
