does anyone have a circuit diagram of the primary side of a standard, switchmode computer power supply?? or know where one is?? I need it!!! well, not really, but it would be a great help...

Not only will that show you what a computer power supply looks like, but it will help you by not having to ask us questions like, "What is a diode?"

WELL EXCUSE ME!!! but I take that as an insult, I know what I am talking about, I believe that I would know equally as much as you, and I don't like being put down... I only wanted the scematic in an effort to use the primary side, with a re-wound transformer to get +-28volts DC to experiment using switching power supplies to power high power audio amps.. I have power lower power amps with a standard computer power supply, and haven't noticed any audiable switching noise when used with higher power amps.. I am trying to construct a 50watt per channel amp that will fit into a case with footprint the size of 1/4 a piece of A4 paper... Now, any bets that I won't manage this task?????

ATX schematic
It uses no optos, and a gate driver transformer. I think it would be pretty easy to hook my supply to this type of circuit, although I've never tried. I've never seen one like this in real life though. This seems like the one you might have.

You can't say that you havn't asked some questions that would have been eaiser answered from reading a book for 20 minutes.
