    audigy nx2 power

I have an audigy nx2 external sound card with a dammaged ac/dc adapter plug. The adapter outputs 5 volts 1.5 amps. Can I clip the wires fom the adapter and use a molex connnector to power my sound card off of my computer power supply?

Yikes! You probably want to be a bit more careful than that

So the plug is OK, but the ac/dc unit is damaged, right?

You can use the 5v and ground line from the molex connector from the PC power supply. Use your meter to check you have the correct wires. I think the NX needs a positive tip (check the power supply).

be more careful than what? lol I clipped the wires after the inverter box and it seems to make no difference which wire i connected to the psu. Maybe the extigy (what i have) is different than the audigy

Right, I'll be removing the damaged unit and using the plug that goes into the audigy to connect to the pc power supply, using the molex. Thanks everyone, for the replies
