    Post presslabs forward converter

    I finally got all the parts I need for presslabs forward converter so I got started ... kinda..
    I have several ATX PSU lying around and thought to use one of these, problem is that all of them use more than one "transformer" so now I'm lost even before I got started.

    Does anybody know which PSU presslab uses? All the PSU's I have seem much more complicated than his...

    The one I used had two transformers. The main one, and then the little standby one. Just pull both of them out, and the main one is the one you will redo. The standby one will be replaced with a Simple Switcher, or the step-down power supply of choice. Even a linear regulator would work. The 5V standby current is less than 750mA. You may even have three transformers, the added one would be part of the feedback for the voltage regulation. You don't need that one anymore either. Hope this helps get you started!

    Hi presslab, sorry I keep on bothering you, problem is that the PSU I wanna convert is blown (on the ACside), so I can't do any measruments..

    BTW It has three, as you said.. I'm just gonna try losing the two others and I'll see what it does...

    would it be posibble to bypass the transformer with dc-dc 12 regulator strait into where the transformer would drop off the 12v??
