The one I used had two transformers. The main one, and then the little standby one. Just pull both of them out, and the main one is the one you will redo. The standby one will be replaced with a Simple Switcher, or the step-down power supply of choice. Even a linear regulator would work. The 5V standby current is less than 750mA. You may even have three transformers, the added one would be part of the feedback for the voltage regulation. You don't need that one anymore either.
