    Compaq Evo D510S Power supply

    Hey all,
I got a Compaq EVO D510S(d51S/p2.4/80/2.00) it's a P4 2.4Ghz, 2 Gigs of ram and 80 gig hard drive. I wanted to convert the power supply connector to a 20 pin, I've seen this post but I don't know if this will work with a 2.4ghz processor? also what size power supply can I get for this motherboard once I convert it to 20 pins?? I guess I would probably need about 200-250 watts!?!?

    or should I get a Power inverter(ac/dc)?
    Thanks

yeah i think anything over 150w you should be looking at an inverter, isn't a Compaq EVO D510S a laptop?

NO it's a desktop, small format.

well here's the wierd thing, the compaq ps on the system is a 175w max. But when I calculate everything in the system it comes out to be using 250w or more?? wtf!?!? if I can get away with a 175 can I just put a 200w power supply?

    sorry for the bother.

    Thanks

You ever figure anything out? I have the same PC wanting to make it work with the Opus PSU I bought.

Look at the Compaq PSU to see what are the output capacity. How many amp on each power rail (if it output are 3.3V, 5.0V, 12V ..... ) and compare it to the Opus or DSATX. I think you better off with the DSATX.

As for converting the ATX 20 pin connector. If there is a vailable to buy, buy it (maybe not available). Otherwise, use a meter and do the conversion yourself.
