power requirments for p4

does a 2.0ghz p4 take much more power than a 1.7ghz p4?

I was running an opus 150 on my 1.7ghz mini itx p4 board, but last ngiht i think i overheated my cpu... still havent had the time to test it out and see if thats what really blew, but from what i felt and smelt, it seems like thats what happened.

so could i replace my 1.7ghz p4 with a 2.0 or somethign higher and still stay under the 150w max? I searched and cant find anything

p4 pulls completely off 12v rail. hence the 4 pin yellow and black plug for the processor. i am using a p4 1.7 mobile chip which runs less heat and less power its only 33 watts or some **** so i figure 3amps on the 12v rail. calculate how many watts the processor is and how much it will pull from the opus' 12v rail. remember opus can only handle 5a on the 12v. im running a 8 inch lilli 7200rpm 200 gig drive and the cpu off 12v and it all works fine.

yea, thats what im trying to find out, is how much watts the cpu is.

can anybody help me out...im trying to remember what my old IBM's proccessor was back in....'95.....I know there was a "d" in the name....and maybe a 76 or something like that....HELP
