    Could I buy any laptop car "dc-dc" adapter and use it?

    In theory shouldnt I be able to purchase any laptop car dc-dc adapter and splice and solder the correct end for my laptop assuming the power ratings are the same?

    Why wouldn't you buy a car adapter specifically made for your laptop? Saves you stuffing around.
    Yes you can purchase any dc-dc adapter and change the plug as long as the voltage output of the adapter is correct and it can supply enough current.
