    Exclamation Xbox 360 in my truck, 12v and all. Need oppinions!

    Well I was running a modded Xbox with a m1-atx in my truck and the reliabality wasnt great so I am going with an xbox 360. The external power brick on the 360 provides rails of 12v and 5v. The total consumption is 210 watts or so, but I need to be safe and ping it at 300watts so I dont screw myself over. Now, how am I going to accomplish that much power to the xbox off of a vehicles 12v?

    xbox= 300 watts or so (12v and 5v only)

    how do I get that power to it?

    [also, the xbox's input rails are split up, there are (4) 12v and (4) 5v I believe, maybe that helps?]

    thanks guys,

    Jeff

    I'm putting a M1-ATX PSU into my car xbox at the moment.
    Can you tell me why you found yours to be unreliable - what happened , how to avoid it etc.

    If you thought the XBox was unreliable, wait till you get the 360 in there. These things crash very frequently. Of the 3 people I know at work who have had a 360, they ALL had to return them with hardware failures. Me included. Mine only lasted 2 days before the red ring of death popped up!!!! And that was with the system not moving. I really would like to see how you're going to make this thing work with the car constantly vibrating it. If your going to hack it up and you eventually do get a hardware failure I don't think MS is going to fix it for very cheap.

    Don't get me wrong I was thinking about doing the same thing until I found out how fickle these things are on stability. If you do get it working, keep us all posted cause I would really like to see how this is done. I might even be convinced to do one myself if all goes well with yours.

    nice truck.

    I have a 360, it runs fine, if it breaks, I will fix it. But running a 360 is a much more simpler in a car than a reg xbox. Everything is already wireless, and an xbox 360 wont be modded like mine so I wont have to worry about the mod chip failing (i dont have it soldered on so it can come loose with vibration.)

    Dogo: I see you have done everything nicely, lookin good!

    xbox 360 is a power hungry son of a *****, best thing would be to go with an inverter, wire it up to a relay and you are set.
