    arghhh!!! sproggy problem

alright, i have my sproggy 2.6 all put together... and im not getting the right voltages on the negative rails. (-5, -12). im getting -2.15V on the -12V rail, and im getting -1.125V on the -5V rail. i get good voltages on the 3.3V, 5V, and 12V rails. i have 14V measured on pins 1 AND 2 of the T6, but i dont have any
voltages on pins 6 and 8. shouldnt i measure the +12v and -12V on those pins?

also, i just notced this: i got my T6 from renco. part number RL-5533. if you look at the data sheet, the input is listed as 18-36V. does that matter, since i only measured 14V on pins 1 AND 2?

    please help me!!!

    anyone...anyone...

i know someone has some suggestions....

is the lm2587 screwed up? what should the voltages be on each of the pins???

how bout the voltages on the pins of the transformer???

argh, im getting so frustrated (sp?)

Ahhh, is the transformer in the right way?? are the pins on the transformer the same as the coilcraft T6?

im pretty sure it is the right way... the link is renco, RL-5533, check out the pins. oh, and i thought you had this transformer skinny, cant you just take a look at the one you have?

Well, if you get the correct 12volts on that rail.. Then it is possible that your transformer is a dud, thats all I can really think of as if you had it in around the wrong way, I don't think you would get anything on either the 12volt or -12volt... As these use different windings on the secondary... No, wait, I think you might have the transformer in teh wrong way.. Why do I think this??
The transformer is a 1 : 1.2 right?? the '1' winding would be on the primary so the output would be higher than the input to the transformer, right?? but you say that the input to your transformer is 14volts.., which doesn't seem right becasue what would the the point in teh transformer then.. it is used to step the voltage up.. right?? yeah, that makes sense, doesn't it??

No, but if he is getting the 12volt out correct, then the switching circuit and stuff must be working..

well i am at work now. but i will try it out when i get home... i ordered a couple more of the lm2587's and i might put in another order for a couple transformers. also, i was so excited to get these built that i actually put in one of the capacitors backwards and fried it, so i cant experiment with flipping things around on both supplies. but as soon as i get the replacement parts i will have both of them to work on... for now i have to toy with only one of the supplies.

i will investigate all this further when i get home...

as for the transformer, it HAS to be in correct... if you look at the soldered connections on any of the T6 transformers, pins 1 and 2 are the input pins (1 is voltage in, and 2 is the control voltage) , 3 and 4 have no connections, and on the board, i think pin 3 is connected to nothing (seperated solder pad) and pin 4 is connected to ground. then pins 6-8 are output pins (two of them are ground)

what im really confused about is why im getting the +12 V???? that doesnt seem to make any sense, since i cant measure a voltage on any of the output pins of the transformer. i really wish i hadn't toasted that capacitor, so i could mess with both of them!
