    Can I do this??

Im using and old Power supply to test my DC-DC PS, but when I connect it to the mobo, the old PS shut down.

Can I use 2 AC-DC PS in paralel or something like that, to test the DC-DC PS?

    something like this:

Please explain why.... Your computer PS should be able to supply the current easily.... But, no, connecting 2 supplies like that would not work..

hey Mp3 kid give me one reason why it wont work ... its like adding two AA battery .. in parallel .. so why wont it work .. hey buddy try it i think it should work .. !

but you will only know if you try so give it a try keep a 5amps fuse in between the 12voltline

Well, I suppose it might work, but it is a bit risky, Why don't you just try it?? How much current do you need?? If all you want to use it for is 12volts, then you could rewind the transformer, and replage the inductors to get more current...

A desktop supply (well the AT one i have in front of me) outputs 8A @12v. I believe that some DC-DC supplies have 10-15A peak ratings, especially at boot up, trying to spinup the hdd and so forth.

    Please explain why....
Isn't that as obvious as a racing dogs .....

I'm no electronic engineer, but i cant see why it wouldn't work, maybe throw in a few high current diodes to be on the safe side, and a fuse or two

For a simple experiment, paralleling two supplies would work. But I wouldn't leave them like that for any length of time.
