    Angry Sproggy Problems!!!

    Does anyone have a problem with Sproggys PSU not supplying enough current to spin up a harddrive??? or is this just me?

    Please help!

    I had this problem. I had an old Maxtor drive that wanted 2.2 amps to spin up.

    Make sure you are supplying at least 13v to the sproggy, and you might find it works ok. If I increased the voltage coming in a bit, the drive would _sometimes_ spin.

    I ended up piggy-backing a separate +12v regulator circuit onto the +12 from the sproggy, and that seemed to help.

    I'm now using a laptop drive instead, and it's much, much better.

    Hey, i found my problem i didnt know that the coilcraft and Renco transformers were diferent
    solved that problem!
    i was playing around with the -12 and sometimes i get -30 and other times i get about -14. please let me know what the correct voltage should be

    and one last thing...how much did any of you pay for the LM2587..i got mine from Digikey for 13 buck CAN and blew it up the first time becuz i think i had the transformer wired up wrong!
