    Tripplight 140w - Cut the Cig Lighter off?

    I did a search but couldn't find the answer...

    I need to cut the cig. lighter off and connect it to the battery - but how do you tell which is the power and which is the ground?

    Thanks in advance!

    Before you cut the wires, separate them and strip the insulation. Use an ohmmeter to find out which wire goes to the tip of the cigaret lighter plug and witch one goes to the side of the plug. The wire that goes to the tip of the cigarette lighter plug is positive.

    Generally the ground will be black and the 12v will be red, orange or yellow. Or you can pull out a VOM and put the black lead on a piece of bare metal from the car frame. Then touch the red lead to each wire and see which one shows 12v.

    find a bulb and ground one connection and put a cable on the other, and then put the other end onto one of the cables,
    if shine = $true then do begin
    writeln('you have found the + cable!');
    end;
    else writeln('youve might have found the ground, or cable not connected')

    If it didn't have the lighter adapter, that would generally be true. All the lighter adapters that I've seen have had both black for astetics. The wires are generally differentiated in some means, one ridged and one smooth, one has a white line on it, etc. You could simply chop off the cord, and plug the adapter into the socket and take a multimeter to it and then match up the wires.
