Like the faq that was going around years ago, how to make bombs and stuff out of household chemicals. What was that called again?

I heard if you get some Sodium Hydroxide, aluminum powder, potassium nitrate, bleach, and sugar and mix it together you get a pimp'n power supply.

Actually, I believe that was the Anarchist's Cookbook. It's a good read, and got me through many a math class...

There are basically 3 options for making a power supply from "around the house stuff":

    1. Modify an existing power supply
    2. Find a power supply from another device that will work (ie. laptop supply)
    3. Use a spare inverter

Car: 1986 Mazda RX-7 Turbo (highly modded), 1978 RX-7 Beater (Dead, parting out), 2001 Honda Insight
"If one more body-kitted, cut-spring-lowered, farty-exhausted Civic revs on me at an intersection, I swear I'm going to get out of my car and cram their ridiculous double-decker aluminium wing firmly up their rump."

Well you said found around the home. Not everyone has an embedded computer just lying around in their home. I suppose if you bought a DC-DC power supply, hid it under the sink and then forgot about it. You could then find it and hit the jackpot. I mean, you will probably have enough parts in a monitor, stereo, and TV to build a DC-DC but it will take years to learn how to do.

From my experience, if you want to build one from scratch, I would just buy the parts. The stuff you learn from building it will be worth the cost of the parts and save you a lot of time being mad that it isn't working right because the part you ripped out is fried, or killed from ESD zapping. Plus the health benefits from not inhaling melted circuit board fumes.

Sorry if my sarcasm offended you. I'm not trying to be offensive. It just got me on a soap box. Sorry. It's just when you mentioned found around the home. It took me back to my pyro days in middle school.. Ya Aaron, it was the Anarchist's Cookbook I was thinking of. I think I paid a guy 2 bucks for the section on lock picking, then the principal of the school found out that he was selling this stuff and busted him and made him give the money back to everyone.. It was really funny.
