    Different M2-ATX startup issue

I have a m2-atx running with a Dell P3 motherboard. The problem is when the board is completely powered down, the ign switch only powers the board on, but does not start the computer.

If the board has power already, but not on, I turn the ign, the computer boots fine. I can go in and turn the ign on, wait a sec or two, turn it off and start the car and the computer boots ine as well. Its like the MB takes a sec or two to power on before it wants a start-up signal. Has anyone else had this problem?

An easy solution is to set hardoff to never, but not sure I want the constant drain on my battery.

    Any ideas guys?

did you check the jumper settings?
if there is no jumper installed on m2atx put a jumper on B.

btw i am gonna power up my carpc tomorrow with m2atx psu too.
can you tap 12V+, ground and ignition from anywhere (i'll try cdchanger harness for all connections)

and yes, techinically you can pull 12v+, ign, and gnd from anywhere but for 12v+ you have to be careful because most things will already be ran through the fuse box for a particular amp rating. Running both things could well exceed the amp rating and pop your fuse. I would suggest running the 12v directly from the battery, including a fuse. GND should be run to car chassis as long as you can make a good connection.

did you try the amp jumper otherwise?
If it's not the case, your psu may be damaged.
Do you have the stock psu of your case that you can try to be sure?

    For my thing.
I don't know how am i supposed to tap power thru battery cause don't know too much about car electronic but i'll remove the cdchanger and put the pc instead which may give me some free watt's. M2ATX contains a fuse (15A) isn't enough?

what might be happening is the M2 may not be fully powering the 12 and 5 volt rails before it hits the power switch. It seems to be a known problem with the SP-13000 Via boards, and may be the same problem in your case. You may need a longer delay on the startup, so that the M2 can get everything fully powered before it hits the switch. piabu made me a custom PIC for my M2 for a different shutdown timing, but he said that the startup delay can be modified also. I'd send him a PM and ask to get a new PIC with a longer startup delay. The price was really reasonable also

Use the power distribution box just above the battery and put an in-line fuse just after your connection. The CD changer wiring shares it's power with other components so you may be asking too much of the vehicle wiring. All that's need to connect to the block is a ring terminal - there should be a couple empty spots.
