    Another M-1 Turn-on problem.

Hey guys, I know this has probably been covered a hundred times, but I am having a problem trying to boot up my computer. I have the M10000, with the M-1 ATX, in the Ampie case, if it makes any difference. I have the ground from the PS and external switch going to groud, and to 12v I have the Positive(red) wire, and the Switch(white) wire running to 12v, also the positive wire from the switch lead on the PS going to 12v. I put the fuse in my dist. block, and nothing happens. The LED lights up very quickly then goes directly off. No noise is made, or anything. Anyone have any suggestions. Thanks

Describe what is connected to what with their labels. Is this how you have it setup?

    J11 - goes to 12V
    J12 - goes to 12V
    J13 - goes to ground

    J6 - (+) goes to 12V (?)
    J6 - (-) goes to ground (?)

If this is the case with the J6 you have it wrong. The J6 goes from the PS to the Motherboard on/off switch. I believe its pin 6 and 8 on the F_Panel block ( PW_BN+ and PW_BN-) Then to test it, apply 12V to J12 and it is like pushing the on/off switch on the computer. When you disconnect 12V from J12 it’s like pushing the on/off switch again on the computer. Also make sure you have J7 jumped properly to allow the system to use this auto on feature. Its best to start out with the suggested jumper config then change it when it works.

I have those connections right. J6 to mobo switch. J7 is another story, I think I have it as suggested, but I could be wrong. The way I have it now, is the jumper is on both of the "B" pins. When you say supply 12V to J12 do I need to do it to J11 too? Thanks

    >external switch going to groud

That could be the problem. If you want external switch, just conencted it to J6/J8, don't get ground involved here.

    hope this helps,
    -Andrei

Ok, you confused me. Are you saying I have my external switch going to ground? I have the mobo PW switch leads in the J6 slot, and had 12v running to the other switch lead positive and the negative of that same switch running to ground. Is that where you are talking about? So I guess I am grounding out that switch. However, I completely took off that J8 connector and just kept the J6 attached to the mobo, left the other 12V connectors hooked up, and still nothing.

If you are having trouble, I suggest starting with a bare minimum hookup. That would be 12V, Ignition, Ground, and J6 to Mobo. Nothing on J8. Nothing plugged in to USB or 12V rail (no drives). If the MOBO boots that way, add your other switches, drives, USB stuff one at a time. If there is an overload, the PS should detect it and shut down. Good luck.

I'm confused on what you are calling the external switch. If your talking about the J8 that runs parallel with the J6, do what JimmyFitz said and don't connect anything to that yet until everything is working. If you connected the J8 to +12V and to gnd, then I hope you didn't burn your mobo.

J11 should always have +12V. This should be a direct connect to your battery with a Fuse on that line near the battery. J12 should connect to your ignition Acc +12V wire. I used the one that connected to my old radio HU. That way it will provide 12V when you turn your key to turn on your car (which will simulate pressing the power button on the mobo to turn computer on) and will cut 12V when you turn off your car (which will simulate pushing the mobo power button to turn the computer off). If you are still having trouble, connect the mobo to a regular PS and switch and test to make sure you didn't fry anything.

    Let us know what happens.

Ok I hooked it up like you said. Nothing on J8. 12V all time to red J11, J12 was ignition, and J13 ground. Nothing happened when I switched on the car. I checked the ATX plug off the power supply and nothing read over .06V. I checked the hard drive plugs and nothing read over .03V. Could it be the PS? I tried to hook it up to my home PC PS, but it requires the extra 4 prong plug that the M10000 doesnt have. Any ideas?

Is J6 hooked up to your mobo. Tried reversing the polarity on J6? J7 jumper settings on the M1?
