why would you run the ground wire back to the battery?
I'm getting ready to run my wires in the car, and I'm wondering what would be the best method for running the ground (black) wires from the Opus (in the trunk) to the battery... Is it better to:
1) run a 10AWG (or 8AWG) wire from the battery negative terminal to a distribution block in the trunk which would split into the 2 16AWG black wires on the Opus.
2) extend the 2 16AWG wires to the battery and attach them directly?
I'm guessing it would be better to run a 10AWG (or 8AWG) to the trunk, but just want to make sure...
Also, where can I get a good price on a distribution block for this purpose? I would prefer a single unit with 2 distinct connections... 1 10AWG (or 8AWG) to 2 16AWG connections for positive (yellow), and 1 10AWG (or 8AWG) to 2 16AWG connections for the ground (black).
[edit: the reason I'm saying 10AWG or 8AWG is because I haven't decided which yet. I might go with 8AWG to prevent the possibility of alternator whine on the audio]
[edit: Also, for the pair of GROUND wires, is it safe to run the pair of 16AWG wires directly to the battery, or should they go through a distro block also? If they can go directly to the battery negative terminal, then I would only need a single 1x8AWG to 2x16AWG distro and not a dual distro block]

Just ground the negative distro block to the chassis in the boot using the same thickness wire as the thickest that you run for positive from the battery.
twest17: if you are gonna bother replying then at least give the answer. Something isn't obvious unless you know it.
