    DSATX not shutting puter down

I have the DSATX installed in my car puter and it runs fine except for one thing. It doesn't seem to send the shut down signal to the motherboard. Every thing else runs perfect.

It's all set up according to the manual and even tried reversing the pins on the switch to see if that fixed it. I set the P1 to the lowest to shut down as soon as possible. It does cut the power after about 60 secs but never sends the shut down signal to the motherboard.

Searched and saw others had problems almost like this and was told to upgrade the firmware. Go fig I didn't buy the serial adapter when I bought it too.

    Thanks

The firmware upgrade will only solve the 5 blinking problem. You probably have a polarity problem.

What kind of motherboard do you have?

    Do you have a DMM?

You need to get the meter out. Hook the Regular switch up to the motherboard. Then press and hold the power switch. Put the red lead on the switch pins, and the black lead on a ground lead. GND of the DSATX will work well for this.

It is possible your MOBO is not compatible with the DSATX motherboard SW signal. You can make a transistor circuit to make it work, or use a relay.

No idea on the blinking... it's burried in the computer and a real pain to get out. Not the best place but it's not going to rattle around or move in the case where it is at. I switched the polarity back and forth many time to check that, and it had no effect.

The motherboard is a P4 from a AMS EG65 e-cube that they don't make any more, and no don't have a meter. Ordered the serial cable with the usb adaptor last night but won't get that for a few weeks (on back order) to play around with other settings.

Didn't know there could be a compatibility problem, figured it's just a switch :-p

Thanks zootjeff for this help too.

Does the relay turn on if you hook it to location F1 and Vin??

Either you did something wrong hooking up the relay or the supply is damaged..

Sorry for the delay... haven't had any time to mess with it for awhile now. Just been shutting it off with a switch on every screen in my skin as a work around for now.

The DSATX powers up normaly and works GREAT! It just doesn't seem to send a pulse to the mb shut down jumpers. Still waiting on the USB port part too.

I'm not sure what you mean by "Does the relay turn on if you hook it to location F1 and Vin??". Can't imagine I did anything wrong, it's not that complicated to hook it up. I was thinking maybe the pulse it sends is to short as a posiblitly. I don't get it as of yet.

I take it you've looked at all that. You've loaded setup defaults, and it still don't work, then there is probably something wrong with that transistor and you should send it back for free repair..

Unless I'm missing something stupid... it is just the wires that goes from JP1 G (the closest to the egde of the board) straight to the mb power switch jumper pins right?

I did switch the pins to check the polarity as I said before with no effect, also reset everything on my board, and yes... saw them pics except the first one before from all the searching I've done :-) It's the only thing it doesn't do is shut the pc off, everything else is perfect.

Well guess I'll see about getting a replacement then......

The only thing is, it is powering my car computer now. I hate to have to take it all apart and not have any pc with my long commute. Was actually thinking that it might just be easier to buy the Micro Shutdown Controller and have it do the shut down part. Just to save myself from not having a pc for how ever long, and not having to take as much apart as well.

Would that work? Or am I just being silly now?
