Cheap DC-DC PSU - Be quick!

    http://www.digisys.net/timeline/hacker.html#rf

Check out their first product on the list. It could make a nice DC-DC PSU. And with the included rechargable battery no reboots when you crank the engine!

    welcome to last week

hehehe, just messing with you... but seriously, this was posted a couple of days ago.

a tank circuit would work just as well if all you are concerned about is running your player with the ignition in the "accessory" position and then wanting to start the engine without losing power. plus this battery psu looks to be a little weak for some of the setups on the board.

    what about the -5V rail?

wait a minute.... you were the one that built the tank circuit (did a search)!!! it was much cheaper than this battery psu, right?

edit.... removes own head from ***.... sproggy 2.6 with 3.3V rail is 58.8W

well, according to arby's measurements for the fv24, you don't need the -5 volts to power that motherboard.

"Actually, that will power an FV24 just fine.

    mine uses...
    4A @ 5V
    1.9A @ 3.3
    0.14A @12V
    with a celeron 900
    "

this is the same setup that I have.

How can there be a +5 ouput without a -5? I don't exactly understand how that works?

I didn't notice if somebody posted about it.
Anyway, it's a very cheap DC-DC PSU and even though I already have a keypower I'll order two for my future/ friend's setups...

    Angry ARGH!

Anyone know where that old thread is? This DC/DC is looking very useful right now.

    Re: Cheap DC-DC PSU

Okay, I phone ordered two of these units, (the saleswoman sounded like she didnt want to be there, but I digress) and I intent on making the modifications to see if it will drive my SBC and drives. I will post photos, schematics, info, and any other relevant bullcrap i can come up with. If these units are effective, they could be the answer for at least a few of us (until they realize and jack the hell of the price)

Since these have 3.3 volt output, does that mean that the motherboard can be put into suspend or hibernate mode as if it was using a regular atx powersupply?

I think (not sure though) that in order to use S3 (STR) you need a constant supply at the 5v rail - with the rest of the PSU and fans (if any) off.
By the way, these people at Timeline suck! I faxed my order 3 days ago, tried to contact them through e-mail and still no answer. I guess I 'll have to wait 'till the evening and call them (12h time difference!).
