    Question ShuttleXpc dc-dc PSU?

I have a shuttle xpc (PIII 1.2G) and I am trying to find a DC to DC PSU for it so I could use it in the car... Are there PSUs for this kinda PC? its a very skinny box held up in the front of the case with an extention run to the back for the AC-DC PSU so not a whole lot of room. It also doesnt list on it how much power it puts out so I have no clue how strong of one I need.. Any help you can provide would be great! Thanks!

I guess my main concern is 150W is that really enough to run this system? I dont know the model of it, sent Shuttle an email with my serial number and hope they can tell me my model so i can look up the system specs and hope it lists the size of the currect PSU. Thanks for the link!

with a pIII 1.2ghz, im pretty sure you can use a regular opus 150w.

I have an anthlon XP 2200+ underclocked slightly with the following conf. and it works fine in my car:

    XP 2200+
    512mb,120GB
    ATI 64MB video card
    Rikaline usb gps w/ iguidance
lilli 7" (running off the opus molex)

pretty simple setup and also a little overkill for what I want it to do - but it does the job.

instead of using the DCX2.1215.XPC (opus 150W with a PSU casing made specifically for the shuttle) - you can just use the regular one and fit it in the middle if you do not have a dvd or any other 5.25" drive taking up the space.

It fits perfectly without any mod. But you might have a completely diff. shuttle - so make sure.

let me know if you want me to take pictures. I hope this helps a little.

I bet it is an SV24 or SV25. If so, 150 will be more than you need.

Ok Thanks! I will get that PSU then and give it a shot I figure since the PC will be in the trunk I can take the CD drive out of the case it self and just get an external usb one for mounting up front, so if i run into space issues that will free up alot in there.. Thanks again everyone for your replys..

This is the first gen SFF case from shuttle. The OPUS for shuttle may not fit inside. The later cases are a bit larger.

    Are you sure?

The SN25 uses a a current production AMD CPU, Socket 939 For AMD Athlon64/Athlon64FX (this is for 3 GHz and up CPUs). At least 200 watts as a stripped down setup, maybe way more.

Your original post said, "PIII 1.2G". It's possible to run this under 130 watts.

One version of a wattage calculator:
    http://www.jscustompcs.com/power_supply/

These are way different, the OPUS 150 is plenty of power for the PIII 1.2G.

You will have trouble powering a 3 GHz with any DC to DC solution currently available.

As a side note: Do not set up the system to 'Max out' the PS. The PS will not last as long and have trouble under heavy electrical loads.

    good luck
