    another power question

hi guys, i live over in the uk and am embarking on a car pc project. the only thing is that i have bought a carputer from ebay. it seems to work on ac ok but i have been reading up and understand that i need a DC-DC converter and a power regulator. on the back of the case it states that 12v @ 5A can i just not connect the battery up directly to the pc.
    any help greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

Carnetix makes power supplies that are a regulator and 12v power supply and shutdown controller all in one unit. Check out the store here.

You will need regulated power for this carputer. That is what the A/C brick does when you operate it at home. In a car you will need something that will regulate (keep constant) the power from car's alternator or battery to the carputer's power supply inside the case. As suggested in post #3 you need something like this:

    Compaq Evo D510 e-PC - P4 2.0 - 512M RAM - 120G 3.5 HD - 7" Xenarc 700TSV - DSATX fitted nicely inside the PC case
