    pico psu problem help!!!

    my pico psu arrived today and when i went to power it up the fan just twitched and the a red light came on, on the psu, i using a AC-DC Ma 500 converter, do you guys know what the problem is

    sounds like not enough current. try a hacked atx psu for power, just search, and you can find all sorts of stuff about how to do it.

    500 mA? That is only 0.5A. I don't think there is enought juice for the PSU to turn on itself left alone powering anything else.

    so how much current do i need

    If I remember correctly pico PSU is good for 120 watts. In a 12v environment that is 10 amps. The only cheap way I can think of to provide that kind of amp on a 12v rail is by usung a hacked ATX power supply.
    Compaq Evo D510 e-PC - P4 2.0 - 512M RAM - 120G 3.5 HD - 7" Xenarc 700TSV - DSATX fitted nicely inside the PC case

    Right.... but with full load a 100% effectivity ( in this case it will be more then 11 A)

    It depends on your CarPc setup - ussually about 5 - 6 A for starting windows on EPIA board

    True. Need a couple of additional amps for that too.
