PSU cable question

I decided to go with an inverter and mico-atx pwer supply, but the combined noise from the fans is too much. I wanted to place both in the rear of the truck and keep the motherboard where it is under the seat... anyone think this would effect the power to the motherboard if the wires were ran maybe 5-6 feet... I will just cut and solder in longer wires in between the plug and actual psu. Idon see how, but shouldn't cause some weird voltage/amp drop if the wires are suddenly 20 times longer?
Has anyone tried an install with the psu some distance from the m/b?? Thanks for any insight

I am sure that the voltage will drop because of resistant in the "longggggg" wires.
I don't think or saw anyone do that yet.
Why don't you try it out, it may work. Just go to computer store that has easy return policy like Fry's electronic or circuit city and buy several of those 1ft ATX extension and connect together and try. If it doesn't work, you can return it without wasting lots of time soldering.

I think the additional connectors are a bad idea, most losses are in the connectors not the wires.

I'd just go up one in the gauge and solder 1/2" overlaps.
If you stagger the wires your cable should not get to thick.

thanks for the replies.. I will go with the thinker wires and overlap a bit.. I can't believe how loud this mini itx psu is.. insane.. just wondering how much is a one foot extension cable?
