CarPC just wont boot into Windows!

When I have the PC indoors with a standard power supply it works fine, but when I use the opus in my car it goes as far as displaying the windows xp loading screen then the screen just goes blank. I have tried this with a few screens and it does the same. Also the Opus will not power down after I have turned off the ignition of the car. I am pretty sure I have followed all the wiring diagrams correctly.

Has anyone else experienced this? It's so annoying as I'm so so close to finishing the carpc

can you explicitly state how you have it wired up?

not based on the manual, but how you ACTUALLY wired it up.

also, what are the specs to your CarPC, and which opus did you use?

    Hello,

    Thanks for replying!

    Opus 150w.

Ok, I'll explain as best as possible but say if you need a pic, I'll have to draw one.

4AWG line off of battery with inline 60A fuse. This power lead comes to a fused distribution block in the boot. I have an amplifier working off of this perfectly. The opus has it's power line going into this distribution block, it's ground going to a Ground distribution block (grounded to chassis), and it's ignition lead goes to the back of the headunit's ignition which also has a switch I have put in it. (This was so I could power up and shut down the PC, but Opus doesn't listen when I flick the switch off).

I am running a 1.2 Duron onboard chip on an ECS K7SOM motherboard - I would have thought that would be fine.
Other computer parts being run by the Opus - 2.5" hardrive with 3.5" IDE converter. Everything else shouldn't matter as all unplugged and giving same results. Just motherboard, processor, ram and hardrive connected.

This build works fine on a regular power supply indoors, when being powered by Opus it loads Windows like this:

Then monitor goes blank as if no signal, power and fans still running on PC and Opus. Have to turn off Opus by unplugging fuse in power distribution block as it wont listen even when I turn the engine off.

welp, it does sounds like the OPUS SHOULD be more than adequate (I applaud you for purchasing quality product btw!)

do you have a voltmeter at your disposal by chance?

Are you sure this is a PSU problem?

Does your LCD go totally off or just no signal? Maybe over range?

I know that sometimes I have to turn my screen off, then back on after windows boots. Can you hook a regular monitor up while inside the car? I am pretty sure you computer is running and it is a video card or LCD problem.

    Thanks for all your replies!

I thought it maybe the screen, perhaps bad resolution, so I took my 19" TFT screen outside with a long mains cable. Did exactly the same thing - showed windows loading then went blank as if there was no signal.

Without changing any settings it works fine indoors on that monitor and regular PSU, but whenever I put it in the car it will not get past windows loading screen.
