SDC Idea - Please Bare With Me

Okay, I have read all of the stuff in the FAQ thread, and some other threads about this... But I never really understood them all that well. But I have another idea that might work aswell, and I wanted to know what you guys think of it, all feedback would be greatly apreciated.

What if, you had the ignition switch trigger one relay to power an inverter, which powers on the computer when it gets power, and boom, theres one problem solved.

And for shutdown, what if when you turn your key to off and kill your car, what if that just hit the power button on the computer? Then it would start to shutdown? Then, you can have another relay so when the computers MOLEX connecters arent getting power, it shuts off the inverter..... And then boom, theres the other problem?

Does that work? OR is there issues somewhere that I cant see yet...

To start up, it's easy.
Using 2 relays. The first one power by the ignition which turn on the inverter like you said. The second one power by the PSU 12V and the output is route back to power the first relay. This is only if the mobo support "Resume on power failure". There is 1 guy in this forum using this feature. I think his installed in on a Lincoln (Towncar or LS I can't remember, but it show off). To turn off the PC, you just hit the power PC's power button. If the ignition already off, everything is fine. If not only the inverter is on. The problem is if you forgot to turn off the PC, it will run untill the inverter shutdown due to low voltage or until the battery flat. If the inverter can survive cranking, it's good.

I can't really understand the 2nd portion of the sugestion.

I think the 2nd part means when the car is off a relay or switch would send a signal to the mainboard just as if you were pressing the power button. Then set the power prefs to "shutdown on power button press". I assume this is all for inverter solutions since most carPC PSU have all these features (and more) already.
