    hibernate function w/an inverter

I've got a quick question about this... I did a search, but didn't find anything specifically pertaining to it. My question is, if your inverter is on a direct connection with your battery, and you activate the hibernate function on your computer instead of turning it off, does the inverter still draw the same charge (from the car battery) that it would if the computer were running? Or is the current it draws relative to the computer's demand? I'd love to just hibernate the carputer whenever possible to avoid rebooting all the time... call me lazy.

When the computer hibernates, it actually shuts off rather than going into "low power mode"

Basically, the computer will be off. If it doesn't draw anythign from the inverter when it's off, it won't while it's hibernating either.

Doesn't hibernate mean that it takes all the current settings and everything in the RAM and puts it on the HD for the next time you power up.

Sleep on the other hand is where the computer stays on.

Even if you computer is OFF, and the inverter turned on, it will still drain your battery over a period of time.

Hibernate is also known as suspend to disk, you may be confusing this with suspend to ram, which needs a constant powersource to keep it from losing data stored in the ram.

Ah... I see.... I think. So when the comp hibernates, it actually turns off? I was under the impression that it was the same as stand by. In any case, would I be in danger of a dead battery come morning? Maybe a dual battery setup would be best....

Please pardon the seemingly inane questions.... I'm a serious newbie. Thanks for the help, guys!
