m2-atx no longer starts up with ignition

    Hi all,

My m2-atx has been working properly for a few months now, and then this weekend it began giving me problems.

When I turn on the ignition, it no longer boots my PC. I have double checked my connections, and they seem good. If I press my power button that is connected to my m2-atx, it does boot the PC. If I turn my ignition off, the m2-atx will cut power to the computer after a few minutes (but does so via hard power off, not hibernate).

I thought initially that it might be the jumper that runs from the m2-atx to the power-pins on my mobo, but if that were the case i suspect pushing the power button i have connected to the m2-atx wouldnt work.

I then thought that maybe my m2-atx wasnt getting ACC (white cable) power properly, but I busted out my multimeter and verified that the ACC line was only putting out 12v while the ignition was on. I then plugged it back in and verified that the m2-atx is getting the ACC and battery 12v via the pins on the bottom of the board.

I have also tried migrating the jumpers to all of the diff positions to see if it was a timing issue on bootup, but that does not make it start either.

I'm very confused at this point. Any insight?

    Thanks so much!

Just for fun I went and checked it again after re-reading the m2-atx manual, and unfortunately nothing magical happened but i did get some more information for you.

It appears that the 5v bus is being powered because when I turn on the ignition my usb-hub's power light comes on. unfortunately the mobo still doesn't power up until i press the on button though. I also tried switching the J8 and J9 cables but that did nothing.

I then tried removing the 12v battery line and using the 12v ACC line in it's place. Upon turning the ignition I would see a flicker of power across the USB hub, however the PC would not turn on even with the power button.

I had the same exact problem. I had to RMA it. I think it may have something to do with the programed chip being bad but I am not 100% sure.

I've been trying to get in contact with mp3car.com about this, but so far they have not responded to me

I had a similiar issue but it turned out to be my reversing some of the LED/reset/power connectors to the mainboard.

    Try this:
Set the M2-ATX to dumb PSU mode (ABCD=0000)
Disconnect all the reset/LED connectors on the mainboard, just have the power-on connector.
Disconnect all other devices (HDDs, USBs, etc) from the mainboard.

Does it correctly boot the "bare" mainboard on dumb PSU mode when you appply power to the M2-ATX?

Then take it from there.. (that how I figured out my problem).

Although I went through a similar process initially, just to double check I went back and did exactly what you suggested: tried booting a bare mobo. I even went so far as to bust out the manual for the epia board to make sure that I wasn't insane and hooking up the power line from the m2-atx improperly. Unfortunately everything was setup properly, and it still did not power up bare.

I have continued to try to contact mp3car.com with no luck. I emailed them last Friday, and then again on Monday. I also tried calling them on Tues but no one answered.

** Update ** Just got an email with RMA information from mp3car.com! Thanks mp3car!
