hmmm yeah...im having difficlutly locating any open spots in the circiut. bad news bears
couldnt find anything under "dead" or "broken" m1-atx or simular searches. i forgot to cut the power from the batter on the line and unplugged the hot line from my m1 to remove my carputer from my car temp. the connector was on good and when i pulled it off (with force) the connecter brushed (I THINK) either the j12 IGN connector, or the J13 gground. all my fuses are good..the 10 a fuse is good in the m1, and both my fuses in the line are good.
visual inspection looks good, nothing burned up or blackened or blown, but im about to go hit it with the multimeter. any suggested test points or ideas would be greatly apreciated. im no wiz wit hthe DM so i could be there for 20 minutes and miss the problem. buttt im learning so forgive please.
thank you!

So i'm guessing you hooked it back up and it wasn't working?
Brushing constant 12v across an IGN input shouldn't do anything, brushing against ground would probably blow some sort of fuse, or possibly some sort of rectifier / transistor.
Try powering it up and see what power output you get? Seeing if you have some things and not others might help track down where the problem is.
thats the thing. it wont power up. i thought i wrote that but i guess i didnt. i would assume that brushing either of those two wouldnt make a difference. but no fuses blew. the current would follow that path of least resistance so it would have just grounded out if it hit the ground and if it hit the ign nothing should of happened. im wondering if it did touch the ground but sparked and the spark leaped to something more sensitive. im totaly blown away by this one. it shouldnt be broken damnit!
I don't think that a brush across ground would do much of anything...the current would flow from the 12V source back through the ground and to the battery, and NOT through the M2. Just my two cents though, and it won't fix your problem. Sorry.Originally Posted by Jahntassa

Just saw that that's your theory as well. Now I feel even LESS useful than before!

Well, my statement (and I should've said) was if the PS was also grounded to the case somewhere.. Basically if that terminal wasn't the only point of ground. Though I admit, I have no idea. Yeah, technically it shouldn't do anything to the PS.
You sure all your feeds into the thing are good? Have you tested voltage through the fuses internally and externally? Metered, not just visual check?
yeah. voltage was clear all the way up to the ps. i was wondering if the sparked gapped to the screw there at the end of the ps and grounded into the case..possibly damaging my mobo....or something :/
sigh...is the m2 really the ****?

So, buyer beware, as in all cases. In my case, mp3car.com replaced my board under warranty with no hassle in about a week turnaround time. So I'm happy...for now.
