What's the deal with the M1-ATX J2 Connector?

I have this question going at the end of another thread but it didin't get looked at and I also emailed the MP3car store. I also read through all of the other posts regarding it and I pretty much know what I have to do, just not how to do it. So here's what I have.

Now I know I have to plug the J2 connector in the middle into only 1 of the 2 pins and it's the red wire that has to be connected on the cap side. But how do I do that? It only connects 1 way, I'd have to either cut the wire or shave the plastic so it'll fit only on one pin. What do I do? I want to hook it up tonight.

Nobody? Can I move along with my project for now by leaving it unhooked until I get an answer? I really want to get it running and check out the GPS somewhere other than my living room.

I'm not sure I really understand the question...

Why not just cut one of the wires instead of shaving stuff?

Yeah, just cut the stupid black wire so you're only using the red. That's all you need. This is the amp on wire correct?

EDIT: I can't really tell which color wire is going to the pin next to the cap, but it looks red to me, if it's the black wire, just use it and cut off the red.

Yes, remote lead to amp. So it's fine just to cut the black wire and that'll stop it from frying it like other people have done?

Yeah, your black wire is just hooked up to ground. That's all that other pin is.

Has anyone pinpointed yet why the ground fries it?
