    micro atx 1gb ram WONT BOOT WITH HD

    ok here is my setup and my problem:

    micro atx mobo
    celeron 1.slot load dvd/cdrw
    nav. reciever
    sound/video cards
    m2-atx


    computer boots fine but not when hard drive is hooked up, what can it be?

    I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that you're talking about an external USB hard drive here. If that's the case, go into the BIOS and disable USB boot functionality.

    If I'm way off base, then you need to be more descriptive and provide more details than what you have provided here.

    internal 3.5 hd

    when its hooked up, the mobo light goes out but the cpu fan goes on

    when its not hooked up, the light goes on and the fan goes on and its asks to input something to boot from

    Did you try a regular PSU? Another HD? Another MB?

    i tried a 350w power supply

    i ran an extension to my car and it worked....booted up perfect

    can i get a smaller power supply to just power my HD?

    Sure you can, but you're better off getting a bigger PSU to power everything and selling the lesser one to recoup some of your costs.

    This is another example of why we suggest to every newbie that they plan their system out before going ape **** purchasing parts.

    thanks for the positive feedback pervert. your awesome

    Since I am a newb at this, I am just going to sell my whole setup besides my psu and buy a voom case, via 13000, and a 2.5" hd. this will solve all my problems.
