    Opus and Shutdown Timeout

I'm preparing to purchase a Yellow-Top (deep-cycle) battery to give me some good safe "off engine" time. I want machine to stay on for File Sync and the quick stops at the grocery store..

Part of that is implementing the delayed shutdown features of the Opus.. A couple questions....

Is it dependable or flaky? Does it ever fail? Opus has no problem shutting me down with 10 secs, but I have to be able to depend on it when I'm not there to see it shut off.

Would there be any problem with shorting 20 minute pins with a Toggle, to make delay/no-delay switchable?

I've had mine set to 20min for at least 3 years now. I've never had a problem with the PC staying on. Of course I've never had the system hang during shutdown by manually shutting down either. The Opus is pretty reliable though. Although I would make sure you don't have any issues that might cause hangs during shutdown to begin with. Shouldn't be too much of a problem with a second battery anyway. Opus has the low-voltage kill power feature as well.

BTW, I have a Yellow top installed as a second battery for the carPC. I can't tell you how great it is to be able let your system on Standby for days and not worry about trouble starting your car

Think shorting the relay jumpers with a Toggle would cause a problem? How about if it was Toggled under power (during operation)?

You might want to consider just using a toggle on your accessory line to the Opus. You could toggle between the cars ignition switch and a steady 12v. That way you don't have to worry about frying the Opus.

But then you would have to shut her down manually...
