Unhappy DS-ATX: Wont startup... only does 5 Flashes - after setting MasterMode to 1

    Hi all,

Can someone please tell me how to fix this.

I accidentally set MASTERMODE to 1 using the serial interface.
As soon as I did, it shutdown.
Now the unit wont powerup again...it just flashes 5 times.. stops.. then repeats. Removing ACC voltage does nothing either.

Ive also tried to startup in dumb PSU mode, it does nothing. The led flashes very briefly, but the unit doesnt start in this mode either.

I'm hoping that its somehow waiting for the MASTER unit to turn it on (rather than being broken :/).. but I have no idea what pin to GND/VCC to do that.

If anyone knows anything...please let me know.

    Cheers
    Ice

Page 6 of the manual statest hat 5 blinks means there's a power supply overload or fault. ACC must go to its low state to clear the fault.
In other words, cut power to the ACC line.

    Ive done that mate..

I took away ACC (ie: floating) so only VCC and GND are connected (0 and 12V respectively) and it keeps repeating the 5 flashes.

Try cutting the 12v entirely, then reconnecting it and seeing if you can get it to respond.
What are you using to power the DSATX? Is it in the car? Is it connected to a PSU inside? Some other 12v power source?

Another suggestion, assuming you can communicate via the brainstem, is to reset it to defaults with teh D command.

Ive tried cutting ALL power to it (it turns off) then I try VCC/GND, then slightly later ACC - still goes to 5 flashes. .

I'm running it on the test bench atm. via an old ATX PSU - (with turn on mod done)
so I can either run DUMB PSU mode, or fake it into thinking its in a car.

Neither way works. As in my first post - DUMB PSU mode doesnt even do anything.. just a brief flash of the LED then nothing. the power light on the M/b does light however.

In 'incar' mode.. it sits quietly till i apply ACC, then it flashes 5 times repeatedly. Even removing ACC doesnt stop the flashes. If I remove all power the PSU stops.. but then we are back at the start again.

Yeah, if I could get it running Id reset to defaults... but I cant even get to that part

    Hmmm... interestingly enough...

If I unplug both ATX and P4 power plugs from the DSATX, it starts up.
So something might be up with my M/B all of a sudden

I'll try to reset to defaults.

yep, just tried that. still no luck.

Does anyone know how the MasterMode works? is the PSU waiting for something perhaps?

If only the P4 connector is plugged in (not ATX) then the PSU red light comes on with ACC, and goes off when the ACC goes away.. it also has the quick blink etc for shutdown sequence (about 2 seconds).. but i cant get any data on the serial cable.

If I plug in the ATX cable the red light goes one for about 1second when I connect ACC from VCC (as the PC starts up..fans,etc) then the PC power dies (fan dies) and the PSU blinks 5 times repeatedly... not even removing ACC stops it.. I have to remove VCC as well.

Arghh.. is there any external reset for these things?

    Fixed! ..............(thanks Zootjeff)

Used DumbPSU mode, hooked up serial cable. turned on machine via case switch (which didnt do anything), then connected in via HyperTerm.
    Nothing showed up...
    Press 'E' (not 'e')
    Press 'Y'
    Press 'D' (not 'd')

    All back to normal
Dunno why this didnt work before :S.. ohwell.

    all good now
