    DC-DC in Aussie land?

has anyone had any experience with this PSU?

    $AU100, for a 250watt atx power supply.

I may pick one up in the future, give it a good load testing, and see how she performs

thats about $US75 btw, or, if you but 10 or more, they are only $AU80, which is about $US60!!!!

at $100 it's worth a try. I also can get wholesale rates, so it's even cheaper It looks like they are also out of stock. I might have to give them a ring on Monday.

From what I can tell it would just be a normal ATX supply without any shutdown controller. Looks like I might have to dust off my SDC design. Also it is unknown if it would survive engine cranking. Only one way to find out.

    Looks good!

But it's just too big for the car. Let me know if you get one, wonder how noisy that fan is?

last time I checked, most cars had a trunk volume of like 300 litres? and this power supply takes up, what, half a litre of displacement? lol

how can you say its too big? why must the car PC be small, when most people take up half the trunk with subwoofers anyway? lol

Why would you bother with that. I'm in Australia. Just buy yourself a Morex power supply unit. I got one which was already built into a Morex case on eBay for $130.

You can buy them from here as well. They work a treat. I'm using the 60watt flavour as i'm only running a Mini ITX mobo and a 80gig hard drive. If you go much bigger than that you better have yourself a mighty big battery or secondary battery to keep it powered for any length of time.

There is no way I could run anything smaller than the OPUS 150W I am using at the moment. If I wish to upgrade in the future, I will probably need a bigger PSU. The only options are the OPUS 250W PSU (if it ever becomes available) and the DSATX 220W and something like this from places like Jaycar. A 60W PSU for me is completely out of the question.
I understand what you are saying about your setup being low power and if I was starting from scratch I might do what you have done. You may ask, why do I need such a system? The parts I am using were lying around at home. Why wold I go and buy a epia board and the like when I already have the PC ready to go?

If anyone is interested in a group buy I can get these units cheaper... I guess a qty of 3 or more would make it viable... not sure how much shipping would cost though... im in melbourne anyways...

Group buys aren't allowed to be organized on these forums. It's created headaches before, and thus not permitted.
Have you looked in the FAQ yet?
