How would using a relay affect the normal operation of the PC when sent to hibernation after the acc line is off?

Based on what I've learned on this site, I'm assuming that it will only turn off the power on the 5V line as the 12V should be off in hibernation.

    TIA!

Does anyone know what Opus does to turn off the standby power? I'm willing to remove the suspend capability and use hibernation instead if it will reduce the current draw when off, but 10 days is out of the question.

The good thing about it is that it allows you to use Suspend for super fast 6 second on times. The down side is it drains the battery.

It is switchable on the M2.

On my 90w and 120w it can be changed with a jumper... Can't that be done on the bigger versions?

EDIT: Just checked the manuals, seems to be jumpers for this on all the PSUs but the 150w version.

I have an OPUS150 (fanless Shuttle version) and I can't quite recall, but I *think* I asked OPUS to kill the 5V when I placed the order.

Last year I left the car at home for 2 weeks, and when I came back the engine started just fine. So I believe the 5V is indeed fixed on mine... just an FYI for those placing orders, you might want to call OPUS and have them modify it in any way you want PRIOR to having it shippped to you.

I've been searching for some kind of on and off switch to turn of my usb devices. The only solution I found so far is to open the wire and connect the switch. I havent done this yet but Im going to do it this week.

There's more to it than the USB devices. The mobo draws power as well and can run down the battery over time as well.

When the opus shuts the 12v down the relay drops out and the 5v line is cut. When you put your ignition on (ACC) the relay sees 12v again and closes the circuit reconecting the 5v as well as the opus switches the power on so it all boots up.
So from a cold boot you get

ACC on relay closes and power supply boots everything up.

ACC off (you switch the ignition off) Relay stops seeing the ACC but still gets 12v from the opus, the opus stops seeing the ACC and shuts down or hibernates the pc. When the pc has shut down the opus shuts off the 12v power, the relay is now no longer getting 12v so it opens and disconects the 5v line.
No more power drain and your battery stays charged.
I understand..... So thats why when I come back to my car and turn it on, my Sierra Air Card does not work........ After starting the PC, I have to unplug it from USB then plug it back in...... I have a OPUS 320, does it have the option to turn off the 5v rail with jumpers?
