    Inverters

I know, I know, a DC-DC PSU is the better way to go, but I'm gonna use an inverter.

I think I want a 300 watt, but I'm not sure. Is that a good wattage to run a Pentium 120mhz w/ character LCD, as well as a basic household lightbulb?

Also, what brands do you guys/gals own and recommend?

My P1 166 wouldn't run on a 150W inverter if memory serves, the surge at power on would blip the overload protection on the inverter. The machine also had a 150W psu. 300W was more than ample for it, and is really more than ample for my duron750 with two hds and a dvd.

I use an American Power power inverter that I found at best buy. and as i summed up in the fly's thread on painting inverters.

    Breif summation of my experiences:

    Powermaxx: Worked well (target)
Statpower: Finicky/Doesn't like the cold (crutchfield)
Jensen: The unit was physically (cooling fan) loud (best buy)
American Power: Before I grounded the case, introduced a fair bit of noise, but works fine now that everything is grounded (its what i ended up using) (best buy)

I was thinking of the Portawattz 300. I saw that it does 115 VAC, is that bad, as the norm is 120VAC?

Im happy with the american power, in my own experience, I had no luck with statpower (portawattz) inverters (all 3 that I tried). And most inverters will do 110~115 vac.
