My atx power supply is coming from new egg tomorrow. Where can I get the other necessary components? Would I be able to find them at radio shack or will I have to mail order them as well?

Unfortunately we don't have one around here

Can I hook it up directly to the mobo and just ignore the m2-atx? I tried hooking it up to the power supply on my girlfrien'd computer with no luck, I think I had to hook it up to a switch somehow. I just hooked the power supply up to the mobo and the hard drive and then plugged it in. All I really care about it being able to play with the software, I don't care about testing the m2-atx.

    Moved from the FAQ Emporium.
If you don't care about testing the M2ATX, why would you post in a thread that's sole focus is how to set up on your bench so you can test it?

Yes, your ATX power supply will work.
Please don't post in the FAQ Emporium any more unless you're adding a post that is purely informational that others will benefit from.

just a shot in the dark, but did you cross the pins on the mobo to turn on? or do you expect the mobo to come on as soon as the ATX power supply is plugged in?

Since there is no power button, what do I have to do to the mobo to power it up besides aside from plugging in the mobo and the hd?

as per my response from the pm you sent me:

on your motherboard you should have a series of jumpers where you can attach wires(hd led, power led, reset button, power button, etc)

you need to find the one(pair) for the power button and cross them(short them together using a metal screw driver, or other conductive tool) just for a second. and the pc should power up
