Which is exactly what it was for. As to why I needed a thread, I don't know his screenname and needed him to see them at a time when I wouldn't be there to ask him his screenname...hence...a public thread.

I'm confused...I should be banned for posting pics ALONG WITH A NOTE THAT SAYS "HEY, I'M POSTING THESE SO THE GUY HELPIN ME CAN SEE EM"?

I had specific questions, which he already knew...just needed a place for the pics.

    Wrong.
This is a thread that was posted in order to get some help with a dual-battery setup. The original conversation was started in an IRC chat channel, I believe. Not that it matters to anyone else. TLY simply doesn't know the forum member's nick, probably because a different nick is used in IRC. It happens.

TLY: I've cleaned the bull**** up from your thread since it appears that the mp3car.com naysayers are trying to dredge up **** and cause problems when someone has a legitimate issue and they don't know the whole story. Hell, I don't even know the whole story, but I know enough to realize that this is a legitimate issue for you rather than the "waste of bandwidth" as one poster put it.
Have you looked in the FAQ yet?

@TheLandYacht - What about a bigger alternator rather than another battery ?

I'm not sure what your origonal problem is because I can not see it but that may be another option.

I've already got the biggest alternator made for this vehicle (150amp).

In short, the issue is this.

    1. The draw for my setup hovers right around 90amps as long as I don't turn the volume up all the way & bump the bass.

    2. This is a Diesel vehicle, which idles at about 450rpm. At 450rpm, I've been told by my alternator guy (who I'm talkin to about rewinding my existing alt for higher amps and/or putting an overdrive pulley on the alt so it'll spin faster to put out more amps at idle) my alternator currently puts out between 65 & 75 amps.

    3. This vehicle spends about 40% of its time sitting still (idling). That means AT BEST that it spends 40% of its time drawing 20 to 25amps more than the alt can produce.

    4. I need an additional battery to cover that overhead while I figure out what I'm gonna do with the alternator. It's a good investment even if I get the alternator question resolved.

    5. The original question was about placement and routing of cables and (most importantly) the proprietary +12v terminal on that damn main battery. It ain't a standard terminal, has all sorts of ****e tied into it from the (FRACKIN OVERENGINEERED MERCEDES) design. The discussion was ongoing in IRC which was why the original post was short, confusing, and uninformative.

I won't go into my serious issues with Mercedes and their tendency to overengineer EVERYTHING!

    Hopefully this'll alleviate the confusion.

You're my friend, too, man. I'd do the same for a thread of yours where you're seeking assistance and someone ****s all over it.

His Sprinter is a Daimler-Chrysler... That's certainly a good thing, or at least a hopeful thing...
