Hello
First i just want to say sorry for starting my first post here with a "wha wha whorry" and a needing help thread but... Anyways i dont know how but i stumbled across all the threads on the m2-atx power supply today( never really researched it, mistake #1) I couldnt believe some of the stories i heard about them catching fire and all. Anyways heres my story. After reading the posts, i became instantly worried about the project im going to be installing this weekend which uses am m2-atx power supply. I read alot on the forums and did a couple power supply calculators and basically came up with the conclusion: i have no idea ( ha). i was hoping someone on here with alittle more background in this could take a look at my set up and lend me some advice.
Processor VIA m789 ( pcchips mobo+chip flexATX ) ------- 7 watts
ati radeon 9250 --------------------------------------- 35 watts ( used for psonelcd but can be removed)
2 ddr 266 sticks --------------------------------------- 20 watts
2.5 hdd ----------------------------------------------- 5 watts
standard cpu fan -------------------------------------- 3 watts
ps2/ keyboard ----------------------------------------- 2 watts
thouch screen ( usb) ---------------------------------- 1 watt
dvd/ cdrw slim line drive ------------------------------- 30 watts
mobo ------------------------------------------------- 25 watts
sb audigy --------------------------------------------- 7watts (?)
so my total wattage is 135w (+/- if i add usb devices later) and the m2 peak range is 160w ( i believe). So am i correct to assume that i am within the m2-atx power constraints? Half my peak load is 67.5 watts and the watts output for the m2 is 80 ( i hear it splits the power or something?), again am i within range? i never knew this could be so critical, i thought companys wouldnt release a psu unless it was tested with multiple systems ( mistake #2 for those counting) . I did research the supply before buing just not to this extent. i figured it said 160 watts, im below that, ill be fine. Thank you for taking the time to help a noob out if youve read this.
John
