Thread: New System Power requirments

Hello Everyone,

I am new to carputer’s. I have recently read many FAQ’s, threads and looked at many projects. I have planned a system but am worried about my power requirements.

I would like to purchase a CNX-P1900 with a third 5V tap using a CNX-P5V. With this combination I would like to power the following.

1. Dell XPS M140 Laptop ( Intel Pentium M 740 1.73GHz , 512 SDRam, 60GB HD, running Windows 05 MCE XP 18-20V???A??
2. 1020TSV Touch Screen 12V, 1A
3. XM Direct Power12V?A
4. Laptop auto turnon circuit. Should not draw any power
5. D-Link 7 port USB hub 5V-3A

I have not received my laptop so I do not yet know the power requirements. But was wondering how successful you have been at running a DC to DC reg. with a 19 volt, 12 volt, and 5 volt tap? I will try to attach a rough idea of a system schematic. Please have a look and give me you opinion concerning power.
