    USER ERROR with DSATX

    well I figured I do some searching before I posted
    So heres my problem.

    I think it is something I did wrong I think my dsatx works.
    __________________________________________________ _____
    dsatx wont turn on when I put key in ignition and set car to acc or start.
    no red led.
    ---------------------------------------------------------
    In dumb psu mode jumper on b1 and b2. I have power to dsatx and solid red led and pc will turn on with pc power switch.
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
    Steps i have taken to troubleshoot

    1. Search the forum found great tips.
    2. Reset dsatx using A2 and B2 jumpers.
    3. Put a load on dsatx 1 3.5inch hardive..
    4. tested with a fluke meter.
    5. tried swapping 2 pin wire on g1 and motherboard
    6 tried differnent mobo a via m1000k pins 6 and 8
    7. pulled the yellow blade fuse
    8. using 10 awg wire is running 14ft for vin
    9 ground is 10awg wire is running 1ft for gnd and connected to ground of car .005 ohms
    10 adjusted pot 1 and pot 2 counter clockwise and clockwise. no more than 270 degrees,
    11 tried both motherboards in the house on a standard atx psu.
    12 acc wire is 18 awg is running 13ft to cigar lighter T-05 connector G
    is schematic of car. I may have used wrong wire for acc for dsatx not sure.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Voltages
    Car turned on
    vin = 12.44
    acc =12.44
    gnd = 0.00 ohms is 000.2

    Voltages
    car turned off
    vin=12.58
    acc=6.73
    gnd=0..00 ohms is 000.2
    ---------------------------------------
    car is a kia Sorento 04
    system specs
    1 dsatx
    1 gx260n 512mb 2.0ghz
    1 via epia m10k 256 mb 1.0ghz
    1 3.5 in hardive cheap hardrive.
    --------------------------------
    the gx260 is my final install just doing some in car testing. before the final mounting. and my complete independence from VIA mobos

    I'm pretty certain the problem is that you're getting 6.73v on the ACC line with the car off. It should read 0v with the key in the OFF position.
    I'm no expert, but I believe that line is getting the ~7v in order to keep the time in the clock.

    Can you tap into a different ACC line? I suggest tapping into the radio power line.

    Thanks darque I will give that a try tommorow. I didn't want to use the radio harness because I read a lot of posts where people said do not tap into the radio harness, plus I will be still using my factory radio. I thought the cigar outlets were the way to go. well i cant wait till tommorow it is raining real bad here.

    Tapping into the radio harness to provide the constant 12v power is a bad idea, certainly. For the sense wire that controls the smart PSU (DSATX in our case) works just fine. That's how mine is wired.

    well darq i tried what you said using the acc wire from the radio on mine it is g/o pin 14. same results psu only turns on in dumb psu.
    I read the manual thoroughly I shouldnt have any jumpers on except for the 2pin wire from the mobo header. I pulled the fuse and also reset a2 and b2 with fuse in and with fuse out..
    The voltages are different now
    car on
    acc= 12v
    vin=12v
    gnd=0
    car off
    acc=0v
    vin=12v
    gnd=0

    Any ideas please help. zootjeff i have a dumb psu(it only works in dumb mode)haha. I am in no way bashing your product... i feel the dsatx is great design just wish i could get mine to work correctly.
    here is schematic.

    when u mesure voltages, are both ends of the wires attached to something?

    to get accurate reading you need to unhook the wires from the dsatx, and attach the multimeter to the unhooked wire,

    you could be getting different voltages then you think.....

    well gameboy i am open to any suggestions. so i will go try that...
    I was measuring the 3 screws on the dsatx with the wire firmly attached.
    out to the truck i go.
    --------------------------------
    back from truck same voltages readings
    with wires removed from dsatx.
    put wires back on after getting voltages put fuse back in.
    then put key in the acc position nothing came on.
    put b1 and b2 jumper on psu started rigth up...

    So does anyone have any ideas out there or is it possible that the PSU acc circuit is fried... Does anyone think using the brainstem and setting it to load factory defaults might help??????

    How old is your PSU? What is the rev number on the board? What does the sticker on the back say?

    If you want you can send it back and I can look at it and load the latest firmware.

    thanks for replying zootjeff. I am wondering if the firmware issue could be it.. reason being it turns on dumb psu mode(bench tesying) the users i read with firmware issues either get the 5 flashes or no power what so ever.
    I will try and get the revision number tommorow. its 11 oclock pm here and the psu is outside in the truck.
