I am not sure about speaker wire, but I would be leary of it. The insulation on that stuff is usually pretty soft to begin with. I would not trust it.
I'm not sure if this goes in this section but it seems the closest on topic than any of the others. I'm trying to hook up some neon lights inside my car and have them run through a switch that turns them on and off. The wiring that came with the neon was a 24 gauge wire and so I went to radio shack and bought some 24 gauge wire (it was speaker wire but the guy said it would work for my purposes anyway) so I would have wire to connect from my car battery to the switch...and then as I was running the wire from my car battery through the firewall...I thought, hrmmm...is this wire going to melt in here? So that's my question. If anyone happens to know whether or not 24 gauge speaker wire from radio shack can withstand the heat under the hood. Any input would be awesome! Thanks!
