    startup shutdown etc.

    Hi all...
    my brain is overheated, I just can't figure it out.
    I've made jeffs shutdown controller ( http://www.dosh.tk ) except for the relay part, as I want it to only turn off using the power button, my dc/dc should remain on for str.

    The shutdown works fine, now I added another "puls-part" so that when I turn my key to ACC a pulse is given so that my pc will boot. Also works fine, now the problem:

    Normally when you turn of the car the shutdowncontroller waits for some time before giving the shutdown puls. If you turn on ACC while the controller is waiting, the pc won't be shutdown.
    problem I'm having is that when I turn on ACC a pulse is produced so my pc will startup if it's off but shut down when it's on... that wasn't what I wanted!.

    I want the same thing to happen like the original... if the controller is in the "wait-state", and I turn on ACC I don't want a pulse. nothing should happen.

    I'm hoping to use the same timer-part as on the "on site" of the circuit, but I just can't figure out how to do this....

    Hey man that sound like an annoying problem.

    I don't have a shut down controller in my system yet however I am in the middle of designing one, if you tell me exactly what you want, and maybe some other cool features that you think would be useful I might be able to help you out.

    Solved it....

    the solution is so simple that I'm angree with myself for not seeing before

    But I now found another problem: when I turn the pc of manually, and then I turn my key back to off. the PC will boot after +/- 8min.
    I know I can solve this my using an "AND" between the + from the powerled & the output of the controller, but this means I need to add another IC which will make the print larger which I don't want.... anybody now of "small" AND-IC, or know a different solution ?

    Correct me if I'm wrong, but since you're using suspend to ram, which probably takes a whole 5 seconds to suspend the machine to the off state, couldn't you simply set your shutdown timers to very small amounts of time, and then that will decrease the likelihood that when your ACC wire goes high, your computer will still be on?

    Also please explain that schematic you redrew for me, I'm not sure what you mean by putting +5V on the bottom left there, do you mean that that wire should connect to the regulator output at the top? I too would like a ATX-on pulse but I didn't know it was possible to do it without using a 555 timer.

    The IC is an inverterIC, so if pin1 is not connected, pin2 will be high = 5V, you could connect it to the regulator output, but I didn't want to solder another lead.

    I don't get your first comment, maybe I wasn't clear.. I'm dutch => my english sux.
    therefor again my problem (which I think I solved, check the drawing, the AND-port):

    normally:
    I turn my key to acc on=> pulse generated=>pc boot.
    turn key to acc off => waits 8min. pulse generated=>pc shutdown

    problem:
    I turn my key to acc on=> pulse generated=>pc boot.
    I manually shutdown my PC..
    I turn my key to acc off=> waits 8min. pulse generated=>pc BOOT!!

    If you don't connect an input to the CMOS inverter, don't assume that it will be low. If you touch the input with your finger it could go high, if it gets near power lines it could go high. The input needs to be grounded if you want the output high.
