Question powersupply qquestion from newbie pls help

    Hi all ,

first :sorry for bugging you with my newbie questions
But i only have 1 month left before vacation and then my system has to work 99% :-)

I hope ill soon get my desktop fit my TFT but my Actual major problem is another :

    - what kind of power supply to take /buy - I surfed the forum and undersood aproximately that 90% of you run DC=>DC converters .

how much power does a computer consumt ?

AMD K6-2 on Gygabyte GA5AX 256 MB RAM 10GB MAXTOR HDD
    ATI RAGE LT PRO 8MB or if not work ELSA Gladiac 511 MX400 ( GF2 MX400Chipset ) Analogue TV card , 100MBit lan , AWE32 Sound , and CD writer ( 4x writer)

I wanna know what of the following is better / acceptable

    buy a converter 12 => 220V (www.sixis.de ) Modell G-12-030A (300W normal 500W maximum ( think its called peak )or Modell G-24-015A (150W normal 200W maximum )

or build an DC /DC converter -
My question because like i wrote i have not much time to set my sys up - are those dc/AC converters ok to work with PC or do i need one with "pure sinus" ?

    Many Thanks for replys

    Please excuse my bad english

    Regards

    Felix

Re: powersupply qquestion from newbie pls help

If you are going to get a ac->dc, get a expensive, hi-quality one.
i dont think you got time to get all the parts to make a dc-dc psu, but if youre somewhat skilled you might get this one working:
    Finished Tutorial for PressLab's DC-DC

to find out how much juice the pc pulls i think the best way is to check each part and see how much its rated... if youre lucky, it might be there on every part

edit: i didnt answer both Q's
