M2-ATX startup question - continued from another thread

This is a restart of this thread since it has changed topics.

M2-ATX Problem - Fan runs but does not boot !

His original post did say it booted once. Then when he went to restart, it did not boot. Only fans going.

He waited an hour, then it booted again. He restarted and again, just the fans.

Installed my carputer, put my hands on the ignition key, took a deep breath and turned the ignition key while expecting some fireworks. The PC booted, I saw the boot screen and i went YES !! I shut down the PC.

But then, the nightmare began, I took the tools out and got ready to take the car for a spin. Started my car again, the PC wont boot.

    The exact behaviour is:
    CPU Fan runs,
    No VGA signal.
Turn ignition off - CPU fan keeps running. (I have to pull teh power wires out of M2 to shut it down).

I went back in my cave to browse the problem online, came back after an hour, turned ignition, the PC BOOTED !! but then i tried it again, and same behaviour.

PC works fine when i hook it up to a ATX PC Supply in my cave.
So I'm guessing it's the same problem as his original with the resistor. But since then the thread has changed to a problem with the updated M2-ATX.

I'm just curious (not looking for a resolution) but why does the original startup, the "gratuitous" start signal work and the "after shutdown and reboot" not work?

Also, would simply resetting the MB work? Some say yes, some say no, some say maybe.

Will anyone, like mini-box, replace the "defective" ones with the fixed resistor if it was purchased through a reseller?

    Thanks

Well, I thought it was a voltage thing, scratch that. This thing just doesn't like certain conditions.

Cold front hit Houston, couldn't get the damn thing to boot up in my car last night, it was 1/5 chance of boot up. Went to work this morning pulled it out of the car, plugged up to molex connector and now it took 15 minutes to get it to boot up. It's like it needs to warm up before it'll work correctly.

I noticed this same problem during the installation and caused a bit of headache when I thought the touchscreen went dead.

I have since emailed support to see what they can do.
