Well,
I did a search and everything that comes up about key fob and keyless entry deals just with starting carpc this way, fyi. dont wanna feel the wrath of the no search flame.
I've had my install done for about a week now and i have noticed something quite strange. My keyfob has stopped responding almost entirely. At first i thought incoincidentally the battery had gone out, so i changed it. still nothing.
To troubleshoot I first read the maintenance manual to locate the car's stock keyless entry remote receiver, which just happens to be only a couple of inches away from the mounted p1900.
I then decided to remove power from the p1900 by disconnecting the 8ga. ground from the negative battery terminal post.
Voila! Both of my keyfobs work like they used to. close, from far away, etc.
SO thinking maybe I just reset something by diconnecting and reconnecting car's ground wire may have fixed something. I put everything back together and tested both keyfobs along the way, everything was fine until i turned the p1900 back on then back off via iginition.
I have my p1900 jumpered for pc to go in s/b mode, so i know it draws even when car is off. my keyfobs went right back to acting up again.
Any info on why or how there is RF interference if any, would be greatly appreciated.

originally i thought it would be range. but when i removed my glove compartment exposing the remote receiver box, i put it right up to it and still no better. It's pretty funny, there doesnt seem to be any set orientation, distance, or number of button presses to make it finally work one time. i just have to keep fiddling with the button until it works. Could be the 5th, or 23rd press to get it to lock/unlock.I have a question. Do the fobs work AT ALL when the p1900 is connected and has been cycled, or is the range decreased?
no, it is an 04' infiniti g35 6mt.Is this a late model GM by chance?
Just to isolate psu, i did the following.
-kept the aopen pandora where it was, just connected it to wall ac/power brick. (idea was to make sure interference wasn't coming form pc when it was on)
-diconnected the power input connector on the p1900.
bingo.Key fobs work normally. i can go into my house and open the doors with the key fobs, ah, just like old times.
So, now I've isolated the problem, whe do I do about it? Just mount the PSU elsewhere, creating distance between them? I guess i'm still confused as to HOW the psu is interfering with my fob receiver.
guys?
this reared its ugly head, i just cant figure out why the aopen pandora is interfering with the key fob now. what garbage. nothing worse than having to practically stand on top of your car to lock the doors or open the trunk
so you're saying it is the pandora causing the issue now and not the p1900? is it both now? did moving the p1900 help at all? i'm looking at replacing my maxima here soon with a g35 coupe 6mt, either 05 or 06. i kinda want to make sure i find out about all these lil issues like you are doing for me and the rest of usthanks and good luck with it. be sure to check back in with solutions, new findings.

I have the same problem in both of my vehicles with P1900s (Inifniti and Toyota). I haven't done a ton of troubleshooting on it. The fobs only work in specific locations for the 1 minute between sending the shutdown command and the P1900 shutting off then they work fine. In the van that my wife drives, I moved the P1900 a couple feet away from the fob receiver and it made it much better (so she stopped complaining about it).
I have a 2004 G35 coupe and a P1900 (for a full carPC setup in the trunk) and the keyfob works fine for me - the range is at least 40-50 ft.
I even use the keyfob to remote start the P1900 (using the brake tail lamp tied to the pulse input line). So as soon as I hit unlock the PC starts booting...
Hey guys,
I realize this is a pretty stale thread... but anyone find a solution to this? I'm having the same problem where sometimes I get decreased range and sometimes the keyfob just doesn't work at all.
My psu is installed under my Mac in the upper glove compartment of my car... I suspect the receiver module for the keyfob is in the vacinity.
I guess one solution would be to move the PSU away from the glove compartment. Is there any easier way?
Thanks in advance,
Brian.
