Can I use an amplifier remote turn-on wire as a source for the "ignition" lead of my M2-ATX? The M2 manual doesn't say if the ignition lead needs a specific voltage or not, save that it needs to be positive. My carputer is located near my amps and far from any other switched 12V leads, so if I can, I want to just tap off the amp remote wire and run that to my M2-ATX.

So it's cool if one wire is running to an amplifier AND to the ignition lead? If I'm thinking right that would be putting the M2 and the amplifier in parallel with eachother, and the voltage should be the same across two parallel paths, but basic electrical theory never was my strong suit. I appreciate the help!
yes exactly. The voltage will be the same, the current will be halved. But the current drawn is soooo small because it is just a remote on wire, that it should be able to trigger many devices.

I have the ACC/IGN wire connected to 2 amps and the M2, all in parallel, no problems at all. i wanted to use the M2 remote amp turn on for the amps, but it turned out to be crappy with so little a current.

Alright great thanks a ton guys!
I've got my headunit sending 2 remote wires to the back of my truck for my two amps, so tapping one of them to send a +12V signal ought to be very easy. I appreciate it!
what is the best size wire to use for the ign wire? or does it really matter? I got alot of speaker wire laying around, could that be used, or is somehting specifig needed.

how much current does the m2's remote give out?
its not working with my new amp (drops to 5v...) lol
