    Buzzing sound in speakers!

    Hi peeps!

I've been running my laptop in the car with a 12-220V inverter in the trunk, I've had some low buzzing sound with it but it never was a problem...

Today I connected my carpc for the first time to the inverter and the sound was terrible, it was much louder then when I was using my laptop and I couldnt even be in the car at the same time... I'm running a simple cable from my soundcard to the my 2 amps, one for the speakers and one for the sub's!

Any solution to this or do I need to buy a new one... (going to get a M2-ATX when I get the €€€)?

I had that problem when having the inverter too close to my laptop or power wires for inverter getting too close to my audio cable from the laptop.... as long as I keep that in check I have no issues...

if your wire need to cross make sure they are 90 degrees from each other....

otherwise try using a filter on the power feed to your laptop.

Read up on induced ground loop noise. You'll find a lot of possible solutions to your problem. Also consider getting some more high-quality cables and using twisted pairs of speaker wire.

And also look into a "ground loop isolator" i used it when i was running a laptop and inverter, cured it right up, it would go on the input side of the amps, (if ur using a mini--> RCA cable)

    Thanks!
I've been reading some now, going to check the ground connections everywhere tomorrow if I get the time before work... might try and ground the inverter 2 and see if that helps!

a ground loop isolator sound like a good way to, problem is I'm from sweden and have never heard of it before, and can't figure out what it might be called in swedish so how do I explain for the nice person in the audio store what I need...

ground the power supply of your carpc to a nice clean chassis ground. . . . .get some nice rca shielded cables and a ground loop iso. . . . that fixed 99 percent of it for me. . . . . mine was realyl bad. . . . now is totally enjoyable. . . . .. its a big pain to get all this cool stuff hooked up oin your car and then have it almost unuseable due to noise spend some time getting proper grounds and running calbes properly and you will nave a lot nicer setup in the end.

I'm sure it has something to do with my inverter since I don't have this problem if I connect a mp3 player or something to my amp's...
I have a extension cord between my trunk and the front seats where I had the laptop, I think it might have something to do with this since if I disconnect it the buzzing is almost gone. Going to extend the cables to the monitor and so on tomorrow to see if it helps, maybe I'll try and ground the Computers chassis to and see if I can get rid of that last little buzzing!
Raining like hell here in sweden like now and something like +4C outside so I hope it's some better weather tomorrow!

What a buddy of mine did is open the laptop up and add a connection from the ground inside the laptop to the chasis ground of the car..... that way you have the same ground potential.... but try ^ stuff first... it's easier..

Well finally I got the computer moved from the backseat to the trunk, and the noise is almost gone now... if I mute the sound I can still hear it... I actually found a ground loop isolatortoday , was printed in english on the bakside, so I bought it hoping that it would get rid of that last irritating noise...

Plugged it in and it sounded 20times louder again as soon as I powered up the 12-220 inverter... felt kind of strange since I have been reading about all the guys here that it worked 100% for... any idea why the noise became worse?
