i seriously need help with this one i am trying to wire a rockford fasgate inverter so that when i start the car it powers on and when i turn the car off the inverter shuts down with it. plz someone help

how would i wire a relay and where do iput it and how do i figure out which wire is the ign.
also what is "ACC" line or what ever people are talking about and with that relay on radioshack.com it shows 3 prongs on the end and on a forum i found this diagram so would i need a relay with four posts
well it wont let me attach it but its in the power section on page sixteen and starts with ghetto startup shutdown
Have you tried google at all?
I can't tell you which wire is ignition because I have no idea what car you have and it is not standard.
Also this site is for CarPC's.
Search google for how to wire a relay. Simple.
You put the relay between the battery and inverter. The automotive relay has lots of connections. 1 goes to the battery. 1 goes to the inverter. 1 goes to the ignition wire, and 1 goes to ground. Doesn't matter where you put it. Put it under your dash so it doesn't get wet and as close to the inverter as possible if you want suggestions.

ACC is accessory line. That will work too.
ACC line is +12v when your key is in the ACC slot or ON.
IGN line is +12v when your car is ON and START.
Some cars leave the ACC line on after your car shuts off until the door is opened. Basically if your radio is on, then the ACC line is on.
You need a 4 post relay. No relay has 3 posts. It needs 4 minimum. A transistor is an electronic version of a relay and that only has 3 wires but is completely wrong for this application.
A relay works the same way wire wrapped around a nail does. when you send electricity down it, it becomes a magnet (electromagnet) and pulls a switch closed. So you want this magnet to only operate off the ACC/IGN line. When the switch is closed, you get whatever the circuit on the other side is supplying, meaning 12v.
