Newb needs info on inverter/power switch

Hi im new to this forum and new to car mp3 building and i want to get started on making my own car mp3. I plan to have the computer in the trunk but i have a few questinos before i get started
    1) What kind of inverter shoudl i buy. Ill be running an pentuim 90 which has a 150W power supply on it.
2)What should i use to turn the power of my pc on. Preferable i would like my computer to turn on automatically when i start my car. But if this is too complicated a manaual switch by the drivers seat would be fine.
    Thanks

Since your P.S. is rated 150W max, a 150W inverter should be fine, you can go with a larger inverter if you want to have room for future growth, say you replace the system later with one. Since you have a P90 I wouls assueme it to ba an AT style case which has a mechaincal power switch so you can just leave it on and when you turn on the inverter it will come on too.

Since a 150W inverter probably means 150W peak and more like 100W continues I would go for a 175W or even a 300W Inverter. You will probably find other uses for it anyway -- charging Cell Phone, plugging in Laptop, ect.

Just my 2 cents, your milage may vary.

i've found a lot of uses for my 300W inverter. If you got the extra money to spend then go for the bigger one to "grow" into. If not around 150-175 will do just fine. If you can wait you can get some good prices on ebay for 300W+ inverters.

My first CarPC was an old P1 compaq desktop that had a 150W PSU that would trip the overload protection every time i tried to turn it on, so I ended up with a 300w while I was using that system (360W now). The extra wattage can come in handy, as well as the fact that its generally easier on the inverter to run a 300w at half load, then to run a 150w full out.
