i have a compaq desktop pc that i wanted to use from a car pc and it had 1ghz p3, 200gb hard drive, 5.1 soundcard ect so i think it would be pretty good
the thing is i bought an m2-atx for it only then to find out the board isn't atx and it has a 14 pin plug instead![]()
has anyone come across this problem before ?
any help would be great
400Watt CarPC power supply for powerfull systems- thaks for Beta testers- it was perfect.
Remember - AMD Athlon XP (socket A) powers from 5v rail in most times !
I do believe I will be working with the same MOBO and already posted something on this earlier. I didnt even think about the Compaq having a 14pin connector just because I dont have it in my hands. I looked at the previous post with the .pdf files with the other user using a m1-atx PSU. I am just unsure of the Power Ratings for the Compaq Deskrpo en SFF 1.0ghz (which is the computer I will be using) because I dont have it in my hands at this time. The last post was using a p1/p2 processor and would prolly need less power than the p3 we are using but I would think that the Diagram would be the exact same. The only thing I guess I need to know now is how much power does the EN SFF 1.ghz board need. will the m2-atx be the solution or since I havent bought a power supply yet is there a 14pin power supply that I could buy. if there is maybe it would be more beneficial for you to just sell the M2-ATX and buy a 14pin PSU?? I am in the same boat as you but I havent bought a power supply yet.... so i am definately listening....
its a compaq deskpro ens p733

Save yourself a headache..Get an ATX board!
If you insist on doing this, also search for "DELL ATX adapter"
It is possible to use a standard ATX PSU with the compaq EN SFF's, if you follow my earlier link the PDF's in the last post explain how.
The main difference is the power good line is inverted, so you just need to wire an optocoupler in the circuit.
Yes I think I am going to just save the headache and get an ATX board as well. I am still really early into my planning stages (if I decide that having navigation and touch screen controls outweigh the hassel of a carPC.
