    Thumbs up 12V/5A supply found!

    http://www.switchedmode.com/4660LT.htm

    http://www.switchedmode.com/DC_Laptop_Adaptors.htm

If you want to start at the main site, go to Products -> Laptop Power -> 65 Watt. The SM4662 looks to be perfect for supplying power to the DC-DC supply in the new ITX cases.

    Specs:

    Input
    -------
Voltage Range: 11-15V (10.5-16V Short term)
    Current, No Load: 0.1A Typical
Current Drawn Per 10W Load: 1A

    Output
    ---------
Output variation for 0-90% load change (plus drop in cable): 0.5% max
Output variation for 2V input change: 50mV max
    Output current limit(See note 2): 125% +/- 17%
Output low frequency ripple: 200mV max

    General
    ----------
    Size: 111mm x 60mm x 30mm
    Weight: 0.38 Kg

The biggest problem I'm seeing is actually getting the stuff. They're a UK company, and I don't see that model even on their distributors' sites... And then there's that whole international thing on top of it to complicate things.

www.rswww.com has some of the lower ones listed under "Portable SM Battery Convertor, 28W". Their price of £46.50 converts to US$73.46. Not cheap, but it looks like the "right thing" as opposed to hacking something together that happens to work.

Hopefully something will come out of this... I've emailed a few other companies about products that seem to have potential as well.

Good find! If we can order 5-10 unites I'm sure they'd be willing to sell.. I'm going to contact them tonight.

If it works out I'll buy the units and everyone can buy them from me.. that way we'll save on shipping also.

    Good work!!

Count me in, it will save me from digging up my power supply book in order to build one.
